Three key take aways from Autodesk University Conference 2022

Autodesk University Conference is an annual gathering of professionals that offers an opportunity to learn and connect with industry experts in the progressive architecture, engineering, construction, design, manufacturing, media, and entertainment sector. This year's Autodesk University Conference was held in New Orleans, at the Ernest N Morial Convention Center, after it was conducted remotely in the past years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. New Orleans is an amazing place to visit, offering the perfect destination for the conference. Places like the New Orleans French Quarter and the New Orleans Bourbon Street were some of the must-visit areas during the conference.

Here are three takeaways from AU 2022:

1.  Cloud, cloud, cloud

In this digitized world, cloud-based systems have become more reliable and streamlined to enhance the business world. Since the covid-19 pandemic, the cloud computing system has attained an upward trajectory, and it is perceived that by 2025, there will be over 100 zettabytes of data stored in the cloud. The cloud computing market is expected to grow from $445.3 billion to $947.3 by 2026. It was clear that the cloud system was the way to go once Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost introduced the Autodesk Cloud Platform during the conference. This platform features Forma, which caters to architecture, engineering, and construction; Fusion, catering to design and manufacturing and Flow, which serves the media and entertainment sectors. These cloud offerings are expected to bring enhancements to projects since they will allow companies to complete tasks on the cloud and become more data-driven, efficient, and sustainable.

2. Automation is key to business success

Automation brings efficiency to any business while allowing creativity and freedom in projects. Many employers are focusing more on bringing their employees together and preparing them for the shift to AI. Generally, people perceive automation as a threat but statistically AI has created more jobs and enhanced human efforts. Numbers show that about 31% of enterprises have completely automated at least one operation or process. The AU theme also suggested that people should take full advantage of the cloud and focus on the processes, data, and teams. Connecting all these attributes establishes a 'single source of truth, preventing data loss while breaking silos between various teams, allowing more projects to be sustainably completed in the shortest time possible. Therefore, an automated system complemented with a cloud system enhances the chances of business success.

3. The Metaverse

The Metaverse is a new virtual space that enables collaboration and interaction with different people, places and things worldwide.

The global market size of Metaverse will be approximately $426.9 billion by 2027, and it is currently valued at $61.8 billion in 2022. It has been the talk of the town over time, and there has been a trend of people wanting to understand more about it. The Metaverse incorporates various technologies, including Augmented Reality, CAD software, AR cloud, and the Internet of Things. Therefore, enterprises will have great opportunities to tap into the Metaverse and bring data-informed decisions and predictive and prescribed analytics to the future of their businesses.
